Style magazine Luxuo sizes up heels for men and how the fashion industry is adapting to more inclusive, genderless fashion.

It's always great to see brands emerging with open minded attitudes towards clothing and gender. AFT-R Barcelona is a relatively new shoe brand who are now embracing genderless heels. It's a bold move for a relatively young brand, though their styles will certainly appeal to a large audience regardless of gender. With sizes from EU36 to EU44, there's clearly still some caution about the market for men with the absence of sizes above EU44, though it's still a welcome start and keeps the conversation going about heels for men.

British Newspaper, Mail Online reports on Olly Alexander's (Years & Years, It's a Sin) performance at Harris Reed's Fashion in Motion show back in March of 2022.

At 5ft 9in already, adding towering platform heels to his outfit only added to his stature. Olly follows an ever growing trend of music artists, such as Lenny Kravitz, Lil Nas X and Damiano David (Maneskin) stepping out in heels, simultaneously challenging gender norms, providing representation and visibility for gender non-conforming folks.

When questioned about a potential second series of "It's a Sin", Olly suggested that the writer, Russell T Davies, would be busy with writing for Doctor Who, but he didn't entirely rule out a tie-up between himself and a part in Doctor Who.

Footwear News reports on Billy Porter's appearance at the BET Awards in an eye-catching outfit including a pair of Rick Owens' Kiss boots, now one of the definitive styles in the men's heels world.

Billy Porter has long been a champion of heels for men since his starring role as Lola in the broadway production of Kinky Boots and while the association with boots being Kinky doesn't hold up for everyone, we applaud Billy's ground breaking, flamboyant style.

Vogue magazine reports on the growing trend of male celebrities wearing platform heels.

Red carpet events present a great opportunity for celebrities to get themselves into the media. One way to get noticed is to push the boundaries of what's normally expected and for some stars, they achieve that in what they wear. The outfits in general are not what we would call "traditional" red carpet wear, but many of them are now also including heels in various flavours.

There's some new faces in town too, bucking the trend for men in heels such as musicians Troye Sivan, Conan Gray and Maneskin front-man Damiano David. It's also great to see a consistent style commitment including heels from others like Lil Nas X and Timothee Chalamet.

The article also uncovers why inclusive sizing is not quite as simple as to achieve you might think it could be, though not a problem that can't be solved.
